Horne LLP Partners and Associates Pledge to Endow Professorship

President Martha Saunders recently announced the establishment of the Horne LLP Endowed Professorship in the School of Accountancy at The University of Southern Mississippi. The endowment is made possible by partners and associates of the accounting and business advisory firm in Jackson in conjunction with the firm’s matching gift program.

“Through the generosity of Horne LLP partners and associates, the School of Accountancy will be able to attract and retain outstanding faculty and researchers and continue the momentum of the growing program,” said Saunders.

Horne LLP partners and associates have been longtime supporters of Southern Miss, with many of its partners as representatives on the College of Business Advisory Council and alumni of the University.

“We are pleased to provide continued support to the School of Accountancy at Southern Miss,” said Hugh Parker, CEO and President of Horne LLP. “Through our firm’s matching gift program, we anticipate the endowment to reach $300,000.”

This gift comes shortly after the announcement of the newly selected director of the School of Accountancy, Dr. K.E. “Skip” Hughes. Hughes joins Southern Miss from Louisiana State University, where he served as associate dean of the E.J. Ourso College of Business, interim accounting department chair and the Marjory B. Ourso Professor.

“The Horne LLP Endowed Professorship will aid Dr. Hughes in achieving his vision of advancing our School of Accountancy to the top school in the Southeast,” said Dr. Lance Nail, dean of the College of Business. “We are grateful to the firm, its partners and associates for their commitment to excellence at Southern Miss.”
