Aubrey K. Lucas Society

Named in honor of President Emeritus Aubrey K. Lucas, The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation’s Aubrey K. Lucas Society recognizes alumni, parents and friends of Southern Miss who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to the University through consecutive years of giving to the USM Foundation. Membership in the society is maintained by making annual gifts for three or more consecutive fiscal years, regardless of the amount.

The generosity of our donors makes a difference in the lives of our students every day. Annual support enables Southern Miss to advance academic programs, improve technologies in the classroom, expand research opportunities and fund scholarships for deserving students.

For more information on the Aubrey K. Lucas Society, contact Kelly Ellis, manager of annual giving, by calling 601.266.4878 or via email at kelly.ellis@usm.edu.

About Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas

Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas became the sixth president of The University of Southern Mississippi in the mid-seventies, having served as instructor, director of admissions, registrar and dean of the Graduate School. Additionally, Dr. Lucas holds both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Miss.

Since his retirement in 1996, Dr. Lucas has responded twice to the call from his University to serve as interim president. While Dr. Lucas is active in many civic and charitable organizations, he has truly made his mark on Southern Miss through his many years of service and his long-standing charitable support for the University. Knowing the importance of private funding to facilitate a more meaningful experience for each student, faculty and staff member, he has set an example of philanthropy. With more than 34 years of giving to the USM Foundation, Dr. Lucas is one of the longest consecutive-year donors to the institution.
