The Campaign for Mass Comm

In August 2013, the School of Mass Communication and Journalism at Southern Miss will enter a new phase in its history when it moves to a newly renovated College Hall, a 30,000-square foot, 100-year-old building central to the University’s history. The new College Hall will feature high tech classrooms, labs and studios.

The building’s third floor – the Center for Media Innovation – will serve as an incubator for faculty and students to explore the migration of traditional media to digital formats. The center will house state-of-the-art television and recording studios and offices for The Student Printz, WUSM-FM, a student-run record label, video production crew and a public relations and advertising agency. The school’s film program resides on the Gulf Coast and will relocate to a new facility on the Long Beach campus in 2013.

Alumni, friends and industry leaders are encouraged to participate in this important campaign to invest in Mass Communication and Journalism education at Southern Miss. The Campaign for Mass Comm at Southern Miss will help move the program to a nationally competitive level by enhancing all the best qualities of the Southern Miss experience within an innovative, dynamic and responsive educational setting.
